Ianto Jones hated weddings... he... was gradually inching away from another hopeful young thing... when a distinctively dirty laugh from halfway across the room caught his attention.

Ianto never really noticed other men but it was hard to ignore this one. If his height and the confident swagger in his shoulders didn't set him apart, the American accent did. He was handsome... no doubt, but it was his eyes that Ianto noticed the most. Even from where he was standing, Ianto could see how startlingly blue they were.

And suddenly those blue eyes met his and it was all Ianto could do not to drop his drink and avert his gaze... Even though he was deeply embarrassed... tipped his glass in the other man’s direction and... allowed himself a smile of quiet satisfaction when he felt the American’s gaze bore into the back of his head.

Now if he could only stop his heart from pounding like a jackhammer. Fuck.

Being hooked on to it ever since, I'm surprised I didn't rec it already! ^^;; Anyway, Jack is forced to attend a U.N.I.T. conference in Scotland... All alone. But before he gets a chance to kill U.N.I.T. in anger, he gets one HELL of a surprise! His trip doesn't look all that boring at all now!

All I can say is that this fic's FUNNY! And CUTE! And ROMANTIC! And just makes me want to swoon!

Spending three days at a large estate in the rolling hills of Scotland would have been ideal under any other circumstances, but being forced to attend a U.N.I.T. conference wasn’t Jack’s idea of a good time... His reverie was interrupted... “Ach, there you are Captain... Your Aide asked me to... let you know that he had arrived...”

“My AIDE?” Jack asked, dumbfounded... “Who the hell is passing themselves off as my Aide?”... As Jack strode along the wide corridors, he got angrier and angrier. Bloody U.N.I.T. was always interfering. The last thing he needed was some flunky paper pusher following him around for the next three days... He had barely stepped into his room... when he felt someone pinning him to the back of the door and kissing him with fierce intensity. Light bulbs and fireworks rocketed through Jack’s brain at the same time.

“Ianto, oh Ianto,” Jack whispered against the other man’s mouth.

Ianto paused, took a moment to survey the landscape, diamond white and sparkling. High in the Himalayas, learning each other, becoming a team, and all he could think about was what Jack would say when he finally came back, if he finally came back. Ianto closed his eyes, took a deep breath, the cold searing his lungs and igniting a fire in his belly, and let loose a wildly directed prayer to the things unknown in the universe. Let Jack be all right. Let him come home. Let us live; let Tosh wake and recover; let Gwen believe and lead; let Owen learn to breathe. And me. Let me have him back.

He breathed again and continued on, ready for a warm fire and a few hours sleep. At the end of the world, and all he could think to do was keep going.

It is such an emotional fic that shows the depth of Ianto's and Tosh's friendship, so heartbreakingly painful. It broke me...
