Comment or Excerpt from fic: A wonderful, wonderful fic that began as a ten page one-shot, and grew out of control, according to the author. It charts Jack and Ianto's relationship, and their reactions to events on the show, as well as adding a few interesting side adventures for them to have. It contains a few cliches, as the author warns, but they are built into the story, and form valid plot points rather than just being cliches. It is very well researched, contains the occasional reference, and has solid characterization throughout. AND it gets Myfanwy's gender right ... you'll see what I mean. There is so much I love about this fic.

Comment or Excerpt from fic: Well, this fic is one HECK of a roller-coaster ride! Having watched only the last two episodes of DW so far, I must admit that this fic can be made into actual cross-over episodes should anyone consider it! It's fast-pased and exciting and we meet characters that were lost to us again and that just made be cry others that just made me want to maim them... BUT! It's a marvelously written fic and very complex and so very exciting!

But at times, I was forced to wonder how multiple paradoxes didn't occur since characters... *coughJackcough* DO cross their parallel selves... ^^;; But even so, a MUST READ!

Comment or Excerpt from fic: Oh my God, where do I start? The world needs more AU fic like this. The era it's set in has been well-researched by the authors, the OCs feel like canon, and the story is just beautiful. I could gush all day. XD

At 35 chapters, it can seem a bit daunting, but once you get into it (and you will, promise), it's hard to get out. I read them all straight through in one sitting, and impatiently await the next chapter (hint to the writers if they're reading this... >_>)

Preview: He broke the kiss, blushing still, lips parted as he gasped, eyes closed. “This is wrong.” He breathed, brows knitted in confusion. “I shouldn’t…” He opened his eyes, looking at Jack. Giving in, he dragged Jack closer with a hand at the back of his neck, kissing him hungrily.

Now he knew why things had been so awkward. Why had missed Jack’s presence so much. It wasn’t just the company, it was the secret smiles, the comforting pressure of a strong body against his side, soft laughter in his ear as they lay on the roof.

And this…he didn’t know how he could miss this, he’d never had it. But oh, somehow he had.

Comment: Blucougar's Another World is one of my favorite Torchwood fics to date. There's a lot to this story. It's long, and extremely well written. This fic manages to be both a character piece and to have an exceptional plot - usually stories tend one way or the other. It's also a crossover with Law and Order: Criminal Intent, but don't let that scare you away. The fic strikes a fair balance between the two shows, with perhaps a bit more focus on the Torchwood team. I'm not familiar with the Law and Order fandom, really, but I found it easy to slip into this fic. And of course it's Jack/Ianto, heaped on top of a mighty serving of angst as Jack tries to cope with the fallout from the year that never was, while leading his team and trying to catch a monster. And Ianto's there for him, which is written in a really sweet, believable way.
