Comment or Excerpt from fic: This is one of the very few stories with the most roller-coasting ride of Jack and Ianto's relationship that I've ever read. It's seems to be a "one step forward, two [sometimes more] steps back" situation and it's quite DARK and very ANGSTY and depressing and just when you think they've come to some kind of resolution, they're interrupted either by the phone, the comm, the alarms... GWEN! >________<

Ianto felt his stomach knot as he saw the mix of expressions playing across Jack’s face – concern, worry and worse of all the hint of hopeful anticipation. Ianto quickly turned away fighting to keep his voce normal... and... Ianto watched Jack walk away for him and across to Gwen and it killed him...

... ”I’m not a fool, Jack. I know you and she...it’s so obvious…I mean if she wasn’t with Rhys then who knows…” his voiced faltered and he looked away, his statement hanging in the air.

Jack didn’t know how to respond. He wanted to grab the younger man, to tell him he was wrong, that he felt nothing for Gwen…but he’d be lying. He did feel something for Gwen. He couldn’t deny it even if he wanted to. But the fact Ianto could read it so easily unnerved him...
