longliveianto where I first found it, and I thought it should go here, as it gives us so much hope after the disaster that was the-series-that-shall-not-be-named. This is another fic that could be classed as canon if people wanted it to, in the words of the Doctor "Time can be rewritten."

Excerpt:

The man who shouldn’t be looked up through eyes that were nearly swollen shut at the man who wasn’t a man, smiled a smile that could only be described as ‘terrifying’ and shouted, “Doctor! What brings you here? No, wait let me guess. Um - Daleks? No, no we got all of those. Cybermen? No, the last of those died when we killed Y-Ianto’s girlfriend.” The Doctor could hear the slight stutter even through the slurring and wondered what had happened before Jack went on. “No, no, no! I’ve got it! The 456, are they back? Do you want to know how I did it? Or did someone tell you what I did and you’ve come to put me down?” The Doctor flinched.

At this last, the Doctor saw Jack’s eyes light up with a kind of horrifying hope. The Doctor realized that Jack was in worse shape than he thought if he believed for an instant that the Time Lord would actually kill him.

This is one awesome story, read this if you love stories where Ianto lives :D

Some of these songs he avoids out of embarassment, other because of the paiful memories they remind him of; other, are merely annoying in and of themselves. My favorite is number seven, but each of these songs has something to offer.

This story is largely about Ianto's struggle to deal with the effects of the virus, but through his befuddled eyes we also get the story of Jack dealing with a virus which inevitably ends in tears.

Commentary: This is a story where Jack and Ianto get domestic. So domestic, they even buy a house together, and there is talk of marriage. It's also a story where Jack dresses up in Wolverine pyjamas, Blowfish are sort of annoying, and Jack fails at marriage proposals. Do you need to hear more?

Well, then, how about this? There's a sequel, Time Stands Still is when the CP actually (sort of) happens, and is every bit a hilarious and awkward and full of crossed wires and random Torchwood-style craziness as, despite themselves, Jack and Ianto figure out how to live with each other.

Commentary: The idea of Ianto as one of the fairies' Choosen Ones isn't something new in fandom. What is new is the idea of Ianto as a fairy- a fairy lord, even. sparking_off's Ianto is a comflicted fellow, stranding between two very different worlds, both a which are frightening in their own way, not in the least because he loves them both. The writing style itself is very subtle and soothing, and sometimes nonlinear as well, as Ianto deals with the effects of things which to the reader have no cause. If you're a fan of strong Ianto or romantic Janto, this is a story for you.

He took off the greatcoat, tossing it over the front seat and cursed. Jack’s light blue shirt was blood soaked.

He shook his head. “You covered it with your coat, you twpsyn, why didn’t you let me know?” he muttered. He deftly undid the buttons of Jack’s shirt, revealing the blood soaked undershirt and a gaping wound... He lifted Jack’s head and slid into the seat, cradling him in his lap... “I wish you would’ve told me, we could’ve talked on the comms. You know I hate when you die on your own... But I’m here now...”

A few minutes passed and the silence was deafening.

Ianto glanced around... instinctively looking for Jack. The Captain had opted to wait outside the shop, already bored by shopping, as Ianto had known he would be. Quite why Jack had wanted to come in the first place had confused Ianto, but he wasn’t one to argue when Jack wanted to spend time with him.

He spotted Jack a couple of shops away, hands in his pockets, head tilted to one side, as if he was contemplating something in one of the windows. Smiling to himself, he shifted the weight of the shopping bags in his hands and went to stand beside Jack.

There was a sarcastic quip on his lips as he approached, but it was forgotten as he saw what Jack was staring at. A three-piece suit hung on one of the mannequins, black, with a crimson lining that matched the tie knotted around the neck. It was a well-tailored suit and Ianto was certain that it would have a price tag to reflect that.
