Title: Go Away A Little Closer
Author:
blackbird_song
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Domestic, Angst, Humor, Men *eyeroll*
Warnings: Don't drink and read. Your keyboard will thank you.
Summary: A hard day brings strife, understanding, and a proposition or two for the future.
Commentary: This is a story where Jack and Ianto get domestic. So domestic, they even buy a house together, and there is talk of marriage. It's also a story where Jack dresses up in Wolverine pyjamas, Blowfish are sort of annoying, and Jack fails at marriage proposals. Do you need to hear more?
Well, then, how about this? There's a sequel, Time Stands Still is when the CP actually (sort of) happens, and is every bit a hilarious and awkward and full of crossed wires and random Torchwood-style craziness as, despite themselves, Jack and Ianto figure out how to live with each other.
Excerpt:"Don't look now, but we've got an audience," said Jack, with a twinkle in his voice.
Ianto turned around and looked. Outside the low bay window stood half a dozen drunken young men and women, three of them busy with flashing digital cameras and the others frantically texting on their mobiles.
Jack grinned and waved, and got up and posed.
Ianto rolled quickly to one side, flattening himself as best he could against the wall and floor. "First the flashy SUV, now the flashing Captain," he said. "So much for a top secret organisation."
"Wanna start looking at houses tomorrow?" asked Jack with a plastic grin on his face as he struck another he-man pose.
"Two-bedroom detached house, about a thousand acres of private forest, five minutes' walk from the Hub. I'll get right on it."
Jack laughed and closed the curtain.
