It's Jack-centric, mostly his feelings when the feed from Torchwood goes blank and he realizes that his soldiers sent him away from the destruction and what he's willing to become now after to avenge the death of his family, especially Ianto and Gwen.

It's very chilling and we see a side of Jack that we've probably never seen before.

It was times like this that reminded Jack of exactly how young Ianto actually was. Watching him move about the Hub in his three-piece suits, confidently doing any job requested of him, it was easy to forget he was only twenty-five.
Ianto shifted slightly in his sleep, a small frown crossing his face. Jack knew the way he was sleeping couldn't be comfortable. He bent down and carefully lifted Ianto into his arms, smiling when Ianto snuggled into his embrace, his face nuzzling into the curve where Jack's neck met his shoulder.

Few grammar mistakes here and there but it doesn't take out how enjoyable it is.

There was a symbol on the top and then a huge amount of black scrawls. Jack looked at them, he didn’t understand them. Instead they were in the 21st which all sorts of stigmas and repression and their sex was dangerous still, with diseases and babies and such. No, here he had to work at things, wait and see. Not to mention Lisa was still hanging above them like a prophecy of doom and even all of Jack's wanting for those beautiful, long-fingered hands wasn't going to change that.

Ianto had agreed to Jack’s half joking proposal, and Jack had stared off into space for most of the day thinking of hands unbuttoning shirts and showing off what other lovely parts Ianto had, because if he could drive Jack to utter distraction while completely clothed, then naked Ianto must be able to make your brain explode. Squish, gone.

Boom. No more Jack brain. Jack brain all gone. Didn't even leave a note. Left in dark of night. Took good china and toaster. Whooh.

Jack was not going to start taking Ianto on field assignments to get Ianto dirty so he’d have to use the Torchwood showers. That would be immoral. He was going to start taking Ianto on fieldwork assignments because Ianto was smart, and capable and kept a level head.

Ianto shook his head, keeping his eyes fixed on Jack's. "I know why you're really here. You're not interested in what's in that box," and the way he said it was almost hypnotic. He approached slowly, and his expression was the same as when he'd been reaching to touch the fresh weevil bite on Jack's neck yesterday; purposeful, knowing. "You're not interested in what I'm doing. You're interested in me."

"Maybe," Jack allowed, extremely interested in what might come next. Looked like he wouldn't need a line after all.

Ianto put his face close to Jack's; he was about the same height. "There's no maybe about it," Ianto said, his voice soft and hoarse, and his eyes were black and he smelled intriguing, like sweat and singed hair and engine oil. "I felt you yesterday. Under me." His eyes blazed bright, as if with tears, and his voice dropped further. He said, confessional, almost painfully: "I want to feel you again."

Jack forgot all about lines, and kissed him.

It's Jack-centric, and it deals with Jack's pain and the aftermath of the episode :( Very in character, I could feel the pain from Jack when I kept reading the fic and I think I cried a little. Excellent Tosh and Owen characterization too. But it's great, seriously. My words/comments don't do justice for a great fic like this one.

Jack stood in his office, staring down at the lower level of the hub, and watched as Ianto and Gwen silently coordinated the cleaning of the mess – Tosh’s blood – from the floor and steps. They’d both come in early, Gwen for once in as soon as Ianto. Jack had stayed barricaded in his office, avoiding Gwen’s shattered looks and Ianto’s coffee, but now that they were preoccupied with the mundane tasks of death, he’d eased out of his chair, his body sore from grief, and walked over to the window to watch.

“You should be helping.”

Jack didn’t start. Instead, he reached up, and placed a hand on the glass.

“I should, shouldn’t I?” he murmured, watching the remains of his team for another moment before turning around to see Owen slouched in his chair.
