Summary: As Torchwood Three rebuilds, Jack realizes that his time underground has changed him in ways he never expected.

In retrospect, Jack realized everything changed... after... Gray, had shown up in Cardiff and shattered their lives... Jack doubted he would have survived those losses without the love and support of Ianto and Gwen.
They had been working nonstop... eight days after Gray destroyed their world... “Enough is enough,” he thought.
...
Once Gwen was safely on her way home... Jack and Ianto headed to Ianto’s flat. They were barely through the door when Jack had Ianto pressed against the wall and was kissing him passionately... but when Jack pulled back from the kiss, Ianto saw a raw need in his eyes. “What do you want, Jack?” Ianto asked, touching his face gently.
“Make love to me,” Jack said desperately. “I want you inside of me. Remind me that you love me.”

It began with a simple, if frustrating phone call… He knew he could not win this battle. When UNIT had approved Martha’s transfer last year, it had been with the stipulation that they could recall her from reserve status for emergency purposes for 24 months. They were only half-way through that period…
… Damn, Jack thought… They were out of cards to play… They were going to have to let Martha go…
“So what are Martha and Tom going to do? We can’t stall UNIT that long.”
“They know – I think they’re going to postpone.” Jack sighed… “… they seemed resigned… they knew it was pointless, especially with the Doctor involved. I don’t want to be anywhere nearby when they tell Francine.”
“I don’t think you have much choice.” Ianto smiled… “Did you forget what today is?”
“Oh bloody hell!”

Summary: In the aftermath of the Dalek invasion and their tragic loss, Jack and Ianto struggle to heal while helping an old friend, but when an enemy returns with surprising news, nothing will ever be the same. Will their relationship survive the test?

He had just put the baby down for the night when they burst in, heavily armed and ready to kill. The six-week-old infant started from sleep and began to scream... “Please.” He pleaded... “I’ll do anything. Don’t hurt the baby.”
“We’re not here to hurt your child... We’re here to arrest you and your partner.”
“What?” He gasped... Are you fucking kidding me?” He demanded... “What are you talking about?” He demanded, fear clutching at his chest. He turned to the man beside him. “What the hell did you do?”
“I wanted to change it. Make it better. Give you what you lost.” There were tears in his voice. “You’d lost so much. I was just trying to give it back to you, but it’s all fucked up...”
“He changed time.” The commander... entered the room. Her large, dark eyes were sad. “That baby was never supposed to be born.” She went on to explain... detailed what it had cost and would cost. Lives for a life. “We have to correct that.”
“No.” He muttered, knowing what they meant to do. “Please don’t.”
“I’m sorry, Captain... You won’t remember. You won’t remember your lover, the child, or this timeline. It will never have happened for you...”
“And the baby?” He whimpered, desperate to ensure the safety of his child.
“The child will be sent to another time.” The commander said. “The future so we can correct the past. The baby will be safe, Captain. I promise.” She nodded to one of the men holding him.
He struggled as he felt the needle pierce his skin. As blackness descended, he wished desperately for one last chance to hold his child.
