Title: It's Not About Knowing
Author:
andromeda05
Genre: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, General, Romance
Rating: PG
Other/Implied Pairings: Gwen/Rhys
Summary: Ianto looked at her seriously for a moment, before pursing his lips, taking a deep breath and looking her dead in the eye. “Because Gwen, love’s not about knowing, it’s about realizing that not knowing isn’t important.”
Status: COMPLETE
Length: One-shot
Word Count: 2,057
Warnings: post-Torchwood 2x12 "Fragments," non-existent 2x13 "Exit Wounds" and just for the whole of Torchwood season 2
Comment or Excerpt from fic: Okay, so I only remembered that I had wanted to rec this fic after seeing Bea-chan reccing the Demands & Silence fic, so better late than never... heh... ^^;;
It's not necessarily Gwen-bashing, per say, but Ianto takes it into his hands to make sure she stops undermining Jack's authority at every turn... *grins* I LIKE, especially because it's usually JACK that's telling her off, but he tries to be so patient and nice and tries to sugar-coat, probably because he likes her and he doesn't want to hurt her (which Gwen takes advantage of), but Ianto doesn't have any reservations of that sort, so I'm glad he just comes right-out and just tells her...
~*~*~*~*~
EXCERPT:
The first time... Jack had looked at her in the eyes; the woman who’d almost sacrificed herself for everything and expressed her undying love for about a man who loved her in return, shrugged and whispered, “Doesn’t matter...”
The second time she’d asked... Jack stood his ground, like the Captain he was, but Ianto could see it... he could still see the pain, the ache in Jack’s eyes. He didn’t want to keep secrets, but he had to, for the sake of all of them.
... Jack barely told him anything. There were times when Jack was enigmatic at best. Jack kept some things to himself, and Ianto could live with that, there are some things that people aren’t meant to know, learn or see—because if they did they probably wouldn’t survive.
