Summary: Basically, Jack and Owen have a conversation.
Commentary: Don't let the summary fool you; this fic continues long after the conversation between Owen and Jack is over, both chronologically and narratively. It's starts with one question Owen asks, and it takes a while for Jack to find an answer to it. In the meantime, Torchwood marches on, the world nearly ends a few times, and through it all, Jack wonders.
Exerpt:“Except that it does matter. Because you’ve just come back from god knows where, doing god knows what amazing things. Torchwood’s not exactly boring, is it? Can’t imagine the type of adventures you’d leave it for. But you did… leave it.”

“I came back.”

“Exactly. And for little old Ianto Jones, of all things.”

“I didn’t per se--”

“Liar.” Owen cuts him off with a glare. “Liar, liar pants on fucking fire. You left all of that behind for him. So, why?”
