This rec contains spoilers for Season Three of Torchwood.
Title: Everywhere is Walking Distance, If You Have the Time, AKA: I Have Fixed It Without Changing a Single Piece of Canon
Author:
mellacita
Genre: timey-wimey, fix-it fic
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A lot of things happen in a thousand years. Some terrible, some small, some wonderful, some enormous. Here's a look at a few of them.
Other pairings: Jack/Ianto, Gwen/Rhys, Jack/OFC, Jack/OMC, Jack/OAC.
Status: COMPLETE
Length: 6,346 words
Warnings: In the author's own words, spoils Children of Earth with reckless abandon
Comment or Excerpt from fic:
Jack held out his wrists, bare of everything but a thin scrap of lilac silk fashioned into a bracelet. Hart raised an eyebrow. It was the only part of him not out of place on this beach. Vendors wandered around selling Senhor do Bonfim ribbon bracelets every other minute, promising a fulfilled wish if the buyer wore it until it fell off on its own.
Everyone is looking for, reading and writing fix-it fic. This one is epically timey-wimey, with appearances from a good deal of the TW and New Who universes. It also does what it says on the tin. There's no rewind button but a horrible plan by the remains of the 456 that, in the end, lets Jack and Ianto find one another again. In six months time when we as a fandom look back at the fics that defined the Season Three fix-it, this will be one of the classics; go and read it while the grief is still raw and marvel at how brilliant this fandom can be.
