The boy was gone... Jack found it heartening... that he could still read the emotions reflected in those eyes, in that mouth, as clearly as he could fifteen years before. He knew Ianto was reading his thoughts just as easily. It had always been like that... We had to work so hard at understanding each other.
“So what brings you back to Cardiff?”
Ianto hesitated. “Homesickness, I suppose. I woke up on a beautiful spring day, in an opulent villa overlooking the Aegean, with a beautiful contessa warming my bed, and all I could think of was… here. All I wanted was here.”

The monastery was built of white-washed stone. The wall surrounding it was more of a visual barrier... ending at around waist-level and topped with ornamental iron in a floral motif. Inside the tiny chapel, cheerful murals portrayed scenes from the life of Saint Francis. The guest house was spotlessly clean. Iron cots... made... with thick pillows and warm blankets... the bath water... plentiful and stinging hot. Lunch had consisted of bowls of delicious sausage and lentil stew and big loaves of warm chewy bread.
Pryce Cooper-Williams was getting a really bad feeling about it all.
He could tell Yan was uncomfortable too. In a family of theatrical extroverts, his twin was odd-man-out: cool and self-contained, Yan seldom gave anything away. Right now... he seemed the dictionary definition of relaxation. Only someone who had shared everything with Yan from the cradle... would be able to read the little signals of tension.

The control room reeked of decaying vegetation, but there wasn’t... a leaf in sight. In fact, everything seemed exactly as she had seen it fourteen years before.
Except for the Doctor.
He lay crumpled against one of the room’s supporting ribs. His clothes were shredded and singed. Blood dripped from his torso and pooled beneath his legs. Toshi pressed her fingers beneath his ear; there as a pulse, weak but steady...
“Toshiko?”... The weak call had her rushing back to him... He grabbed at her arm. “Find Jack. Make him… do you know him? Do you know who Jack is?”
“What? Of course I do...” She heard running outside. “Uncle Jack! In here!”
He rushed in... One look and he was barking orders into his comm.... His eyes unfocused briefly, and... Ianto materializing by one of the supports. He moved directly to the console and ran his hands over the main panel.
“She’s undamaged, Jack, but she’s really upset about something. Won’t tell me what yet. Wants to see everyone in the conference room.” They traded a long look.
