Title: Saints Preserve Us
Author:
louiex
Genre: Cross-over, Action, Angst, Drama
Rating: PG-13
Other/Implied Pairings: minute implications of Rhys/Gwen
Summary: When Jack leaves to help the Doctor, it is up to Ianto and Gwen to protect what's left of Torchwood as well as themselves. But without Jack, will they be able to survive or will Jack come back to a destroyed Torchwood?
Status: COMPLETE
Length: One-shot
Word Count: 2,187
Warnings: Post-Doctor Who 4x12 "The Stolen Earth"
Comment or Excerpt from fic: You know... I SWEAR I thought I recced this fic, too... *twitches in annoyance*
Anyway, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this fic! It's so wonderfully brilliant and I just LOVE the author for reminding us that there is ANOTHER member in the Torchwood 3 team, someone that gets forgotten sometimes and the fact that the member wasn't even mentioned in Doctor Who episodes 4x12 and 4x13 pissed me off quite a bit!

EXCERPT:
Ianto placed a shaking hand against his brow and steadied his breath as the taste of ozone struck his tongue. Now gone with one of the largest weapons -that always used to make Jack smile that slow, long grin of pride- in their arsenal, the captain left them as sitting ducks with Daleks as the hunters.
The loud clang from upstairs made him jump and Gwen shuffled closer to him. There was no mistaking what it was and how perfect it was timed, roaring out its 'exterminate' even through the walls.
The thought of a Dalek riding the lift down to meet them was however almost painfully hysterical. Ianto managed to hold back the ill-timed laughter and saved the thought for later. Surely he'd have the time to tell Jack and they could both have a chuckle before a proper shag just to feel his heart race to remind him that he was still alive.
