EXCERPT:

As the song filled the room, Jack gave way to the memories that had been threatening to overwhelm him all night. Slowly he started thinking of all the times he’d said goodbye in his life, all the things he’d lost... all the loves he’d outlived. Before he knew it, tears were running down his face even as he sung along with the lyrics...

As he listened to the lyrics for the fifth time he found himself thinking of a lover that he hadn’t said goodbye to - not yet and Jack suddenly realised he never hoped he would. And as he thought of his lover a smile grew across his face, lighting it up despite the tears, the warmth melting away the shadows of the past hours.

... Ianto slowed to a walk and tilted his head, calling, “You said you needed me?”

“I do... It just took me a while to realise it... I just realised I never want to let you go... I need you. I’ll always need you... never want to say goodbye to you.”
