Comment: Ianto has- and likely always will be- the unique status of being a man with a mysterious past. Just as often as we have speculated about Jack's background, we have speculated about Ianto's- if not more so. These two pieces are a good way to illustrate why that is- because although we might argee on a few broader points, very little else is nailed down.

The bat came down again and Ianto screamed through his gag, clinging fiercely to consciousness even as he felt a rib crack; he had lived through Daleks and Cybermen and the fury of Jack Harkness… damned if he was going to let himself end up on a cannibal’s dinner plate without as much fight as he could give them.

He wakes upon in the morning, hearing the screams of his coworkers, the cries of the metal men, the screeches of the armoured aliens, and he smiles; he’s alive.
