Rec: Jantolution Challenge #10
Challenge number 10 is well under way over at
jantolution. The prompt was fluff and there have been some fantastic entries so far. These are my favourites.
Title: Winding Down
Author:
laligin
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Jack's been working all day, but Ianto knows just the thing to help...
Status: Complete
Length: 535 Words
Warnings: None
Comment or Excerpt from fic: This is one of my favourite
laligin fics. The last line made me melt :c)
“Does it only work on one person at a time?” Jack asked drowsily.
Ianto shook his head, saying, “No, but it is a contact only device, so –”
“So come here,” Jack told him, managing to raise his free hand and take hold of Ianto’s wrist. He pulled gently, and Ianto flicked a glance at him, then let himself be pulled in, moving from the desk to Jack’s lap.
Title: Voices in the Night
Author:
laligin
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It's the middle of the night and Ianto really doesn't want to be awake...
Status: Complete
Length: 405 Words
Warnings: None
Comment or Excerpt from fic: This is really sweet without being sappy. It has added significance for me now as I couldn't sleep last night due to a police helicopter flying right above my street at two in the morning :S
Ianto woke in a panic, flailing out one arm and struggling to sit up, trying to work out what had disturbed him.
“Whoa,” Jack said, catching him. “Easy. Go back to sleep, it’s okay.”
Ianto blinked at him, confused, then his neighbour started shouting into his phone again, each word loud enough to penetrate the wall. Jack winced.
“Yeah. That.”
Title: By Any Other Name
Author:
laligin
Genre: Fluff
Rating: Pg-13
Summary: It's not what you say, it's the way that you say it...
Status: Complete
Length: 220
Warnings: None
Comment or Excerpt from fic: This is really funny and I like the end, I think it's quite realistic.
“Boyfriend,” Jack suggests, and Ianto wrinkles his nose, but says nothing. Jack kisses his collarbone and tries again.
“Partner. Husband –” At that Ianto raises an eyebrow, so he grins, and kisses the corner of his mouth. “Lover.”
Ianto stays silent, almost smiling, and Jack props himself up on both hands and looks down at him for a moment.
“Sweetheart?”
The eyebrow goes back up.
Title: The Element of Surprise
Author:
laligin
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It's just another mission out in the woods...
Status: Complete
Length: 515 Words
Warnings: None
Comment or Excerpt from fic: Last
laligin one who's been turning out stories at a rate of knots! This just made me giggle, and it's a good use of the bonus prompt: Ewok.
“This,” Ianto gasped, making Jack squirm to look at him, “is why I should never let you have your way.”
There was a rustle below them, and they both twisted desperately to look down, starting the net spinning wildly.
From the undergrowth, small bear-like creatures carrying worryingly sharp-looking spears were appearing, jumping up and down with glee at the sight of their catch and congratulating each other with little growls and pats. Ianto looked back at Jack.
“Tell me,” he said flatly, “that we did not just get caught by Ewoks. I can foresee a few problems in our report, Jack, starting with the fact that they’re fictional. Aren’t. They.”
Title: Brrt!
Author:
misswinterhill
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG-15
Summary: When the team capture a cute and furry little alien, it attaches itself to Ianto.
Status: Complete
Length: 6860 Words
Warnings: Swearing but I think that's it
Comment or Excerpt from fic: This is fantastic! I've only just started reading
misswinterhill's work. I suggest you all get over to teaspoon and read her stuff if you haven't already.
“Oh dear,” he said, not really knowing how to comfort a lost alien that smelled a bit like aging carpet. “Oh, poor thing. I’ll do my best to take care of you, I promise.”
I should also add that I love all of these authors and you should check out their other stuff as well :c)
That's all folks; sorry for the super long post but hopefully there'll be at least one thing you like.
