I lie in Jack's arms, unmoving. His bed is bowed under the weight of our bodies, and his face is nuzzled into my hair. My scalp is damp from his tears. I hadn't expected that. I know that I care more for him than he does for me, and I accepted that a while ago.

I hadn't expected him to cry because of what happened. That last mission . . . well, it got dangerous. For me, at least.
