This is a great rec as the story is quite stunning, I think even more so than Attrition. You should warn for uber angst though. It is so bad that the author started to offer support and the option of a detail free ending spoiler to try and help people cope with it.

It does show what a great writer she is, I don't think I have ever been so upset whilst reading anything.
